On March 29, 2013, thirty-five former Atlanta Public School educators were indicted for conspiring to violate the racketeer influenced and corrupt organizations (RICO) act and various other offenses including false statements and writings, false swearing, influencing witnesses, and theft by taking. Twenty-one of those charged pled guilty prior to trial pursuant to negotiated plea agreements. Twelve defendants proceeded to trial. Trial commenced with jury selection in August 11, 2014 and proceeded through March 19, 2015 when the jury began deliberating. After eight months of trial, on April 1, 2015, only one of the twelve educators was acquitted of all charges. That educator, Dessa Curb, was represented by Sandy Wallack.

“When I met with Sandy Wallack to represent me in the Atlanta Public Schools cheating trial, I knew he would do the best job. He promised me he would work hard to prove my innocence and do everything he could, and I could just tell he would. There were so many confusing parts and sometimes I didn’t understand what was going on, but he was there to explain everything to me and help me understand. He was incredibly dedicated to helping me. He was my gift from God.”

“I strongly and highly recommend Sanford “Sandy” Wallack. I have known Sandy professionally for 15 years. We first met as adversaries, when I was an Assistant District Attorney and he was a defense attorney. Most recently, Sandy and I tried a case as criminal defense attorneys representing co-defendants. I admired and respected Sandy in both roles – as an opponent so many years ago, and as a teammate most recently. When you hire Sandy, you are hiring an intelligent, passionate, and exceptionally prepared PROFESSIONAL who is ready to advise you impeccably and fight for you tirelessly.”
– J. Kevin Franks, attorney at law

Living so far made the situation difficult, but Sandy was there for us via phone or e-mail every step of the way, even corresponding on Sunday nights. He was friendly and courteous, but above all very helpful with difficult legal matters and made us feel safe and well taken care of. He continues to follow up to take care of loose ends and keeps us informed as to what is going on. I heartily recommend Sandy Wallack for any legal problems that may occur!”
